This is a book about two people finding, losing, and rediscovering each other in the harsh climate of the Middle East. It's a love story when two people overcome many obstacles that are put in their way. Having to go through a metamorphosis to rediscover their love and search many a landscape disguised as a bird and a camel.
The first drawing for 'Arabian Love Story' probably came from my childhood. I was fascinated by tales of the orient which obviously fed my soul with imagery of romance, magic, fantasy and a world where all things are possible.
I called the first drawing 'Travelling' and put it in the back of my portfolio, gradually others joined it. Here they stayed until one day I spread them out on the floor of my studio in Cornwall and realized they were telling the story for me. A story of not only my love for the Middle East but a story of love found, lost and rediscovered. The words came very quickly and are left quite minimal allowing the reader to enter into the drawings and the romance of the tale. As with all tales of the orient its message is open to your own interpretation. I hope you enjoy it.
