Biography

Lasisi Babatunde Damilare, also known as Zuma, is a visual artist who primarily focuses on painting. He loved drawing from a young age, although he did not give it much attention until he decided to pursue an HND at Yabatech.

Zuma works with various mediums such as oil paints, watercolor, charcoal, and more. He draws inspiration from the works of extraordinary artists who came before him, as well as from his surroundings, thoughts, feelings, childhood and adulthood experiences, and sociological commentaries. His paintings express his unique creativity and individuality, depicting reality with exaggerated figures that mimic the appearance of plus-size individuals, whom he views as the ideal models for his artistic truth.

He has participated in art fairs, auctions, and exhibitions both locally and internationally, including “The Chronicles” at Jadé Art in Nigeria in 2020. His works are included in various private and public collections in Nigeria and abroad.
