People and Infrastructure series
‘The paintings reflect on relationships between people and the urban landscape. They show how individuals are enmeshed in their environment as they travel, be that using the transport system or walking along the street. People in the pictures sometimes have an air of mystery about them as they gaze towards the horizon, perhaps in their own world. Maybe they are reflecting on the views around them or the journey they’re about to make. Others are seem less aware of their environment, focusing instead on their phones. There is a distance between the individuals, the landscape and the viewer who sees the entire scene.’
Paul Ettedgui (b. 1967, London, UK) lives and works in London. After a foundation at Camberwell School of Art he then completed a degree in Fine Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design.
