Moses Mous

Biography

Moses Mous (b. 1995, Maroua, Cameroon) grew up in a large family with eleven siblings in northern Cameroon. From a young age he was surrounded by relatives sewing and shoemaking. Mous was encouraged to develop his artistic skills by his father who promised to send him to art school.

After studying plastic arts and screen printing, Mous has pursued a career in painting, developing his skills through interactions with other artists which inspires him. He is passionate about expressing his lived experience as a young man in today’s Cameroon.

Mous has participated in numerous festivals and his works have been exhibited at the 2020 Cultural Return, the International Visual Art Colloquium “Arts and Emergence in Africa” and VISION exhibition (2021) at the Regional Delegation of Arts and Culture of the Far North. He was the 2021 regional winner of the Young Hopes Competition organized by Doual’Art. Moses’ works can be found in major international collections, including the Glenn Fuhrman Collection.
