Shahrzad Pendar

Biography

Shahrzad Pendar (b. 1987, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian artist, who has been experimenting with the medium of paint, from oils to acrylics on canvas for over a decade.

Womanhood is central to Pendar’s practice, as she strives to achieve the freedom that is her right in today’s society. As she says of her practice, she is “a woman who creates her work like a mother who raises her child.” Pendar believes in the liberation art can bring, and with the hustle and bustle of modern life, art is everywhere: from painting, to dance, and language. Art can help women to achieve their potential. As she says, “art helps a woman to fly at the height of her dreams like lotus flowers which adorn the swamp of the world.”
